Oldest Looff Stander Carousel

Built in 1895 by master carver Charles I. D. Looff, this historic carousel was moved to Slater Park in 1910 and has been a beloved landmark ever since.

Recently Renovated Building

Thanks to dedicated preservation efforts, the carousel remains one of the best-maintained in the country and recently earned a statewide stewardship award.

Original Carved Wooden Horses

Featuring 44 hand-carved horses and a rare menagerie of animals, the Looff Carousel is the world’s oldest standing “stander” carousel, housed in its original twelve-sided building.
